Built between 1891-1893 as the Wheelwright Grammar School for Boys and more recently known as Batley School of Art. Although not listed, the building located in the Northfields

conservation area is a unique example of educational buildings from the Victorian era.




Solution:Positive was appointed as Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Building Services and Sustainability Consultants for conversion of the former education campus into high-quality residential use. The redevelopment of the Wheelwright Centre consists of the conversion of the former education facility to provide 62 high-specification luxury apartments with a mix of 1, 2 & 3-bedrooms,residents gymnasium and parking spaces to each apartment, including a number with electric vehicle charging points.
